Assignment – Get started recording the soundscape and interview for the final project.
Working – Matt and I went into the Foley Studio again to record in silence for our projects. It wasn’t until afterwards that we noticed something wrong. I could’ve sworn we plugged it into the mono jack… or the Sennheiser K6 or Marantz Professional had an issue.
Regardless, we got creative and had a lot of fun. Matt brought some crazy things that I couldn’t compete with.
Reflection – The Foley Studio is very hot in temperature. Also, making horse-trotting sounds without weights or coconuts is painful to the knuckles and will cause breakage of skin.
For the next Foley session:
- Small breathing sounds
- More “clink” for the bridle – keys?
- Additional slower trot
- Dragging of dirt against plastic box
- Less rock noises – clear the floor
- Leaves need more ring-off/decay
- Kicking of dirt
- Breath more “uh” rather than “oh”
- Stronger inhale
